Point Baliene is located on the South Western end of Gaspar Grande island. It was once a whaling Station. The translation of the French name "Point Baliene" means whaling point. Presently it is one of the main drop off sites for persons going to the Gasparee Caves.
Bombshell Bay is located on the island of Gaspar Grande. It got it's name from it's historical past as there once was a fort located in this area. Today it is the location of a holiday resort for people who want to get away for relaxation and fun.
Gasparillo is located to the north of Gaspar Grande Island and is commonly known as Centipede Island or little Gasparee. It is mainly made up of limestone, there is no human activity on this island. Seagulls and other sea-birds often frequent this island.
Five Islands is located in the Gulf of Paria and comprises of five (5) small islands. The five small islands, are; Caladonia, Nelson, Craig, Lenagan, Pelican and Rock. These islands
have played their part in history. The island Nelson once served as a quarantine station for indentured labourers. It was also used as a detention area in the 70's.
Bolo Rocks is located just off the Southern Western Tip of Chacachacare island.
The Bolo Rocks are name after a slave. This female slave Bolo used to sit on these rocks during the day and will signal when whales where coming into the area by blowing a conch shell.
The whaling station on Chacachacare was located at Bulmer’s bay.
La Chapelle Bay is located on Chacachacare Island, opposite the Coco Bay Leprosarium site, on the southern end of the island.
Both Dominican and American nuns stayed on this Bay.
The Dominican sisters got the into a small boat , which they used to get across the bay to the settlement everyday.
La Tinta Bay is located on the western side of the thin and almost central part of Chacachacare.
La Tinta Bay is a cozy beach on the Western Side of Chacachacare and the island of Venezuela can be seen from this bay.
The Light House is located on the Northern side of Chacachacare island, standing over the ruins of the Leprosarium. It is still in operation to this date and serves as a warning beacon to ships.
Salt Pond is located on the Southern Western End of Chacachacare island.
It has a very high salinity level. It is separated from the sea by a strip of land.
The Leprosarium was located on Chacachacare island and accessed via Coco Bay and Sanders Bay. The female patients stayed at Sanders Bay while the male patients stayed at Coco Bay.
The First set of patients were brought to the island in 1922
The Dominican sisters had a convent at La Chapelle Bay, which was located on the opposite side of the settlement.
On October 10th, 1926, Dr. Welch arrived in Trinidad to take up residence on Chacachacare. He stayed in a house at Rust Bay. Dr. Welch was appointed as the Medical Superintendent of the Hansenian Settlement.
Cronstadt Island was proclaimed a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1940.
The eastern side comprising three acres was leased to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Port of Spain in 1922. It was later purchased by the Crown in 1946. The island was used as a resort by the successive Governors of the territory.
The western portion which comprises eight and three quarter acres was leased to Barytes and Minerals limited with effect from 1953, for a period of twenty-Five years, with an option of renewal for a further term of twenty five years, for the purpose of quarrying limestone. The operations have been suspended.
Amelia Tripp who died at the age of 23 was related to Mr. Tucker the then Attorney of the Macqueripe Estate. Being of high status in the community on her burial she was appropriated with a tomb having a marble cross with the inscription.
It was the general opinion in those days That only the wealthy were given tombs on dying, whereas a wooden cross showed people of the working class.
On a tomb at the cemetery on the St. Chad's Anglican Church grounds the name Amelia is inscribed. The inscription reads:
"Wife of A. Edgar Tripp, Born 19th January, 1856 Died 17th April 1879. Bright be the place of thy soul, No lovelier spirit than thine, E'er brush from its mortal control, In the Orbs of the blessed to shine"
Point Gourde
Located in Tucker Valley is an Anglican Church, which was built by the British at Mt. Pleasant, this was used by the villagers, for religious commitments. It was located between the grocery and the school. This particular church is only one of three that were located in Chaguaramas in the 18th century. The Institute Of Marine Affairs was formally a Catholic Church while there was another at Teteron.
Copper Hole was one of the sites of the once thriving whaling Industry.
Monos is located on the southern side of Monos island and was named after the whaling station activities that use to take place on the island.
The Legend There is another cave on the Island called "Williams Dampiers Tunnel" which is dark and mysterious. Legend has it that this tunnel has a pirate's treasure chest which is easily accessible on certain days of the year.

Following the decision to close the naval base and hand over the peninsula to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago in 1967, the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) was, by an Act of Parliament in 1972, established to administer the area.
Under the CDA Act (Chap: 35:02), the CDA is vested with all the lands of the northwest peninsula including the offshore Islands. Under Section 14 of the same Act, the CDA has it's principal function the development of the North-West order. And, to ensure that such development is carried out in conformity with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning Act (Chap 35:01).
In concert with Government's Medium Term Policy Framework, the CDA is now pursuing a direction that will satisfy the objectives of the growth and diversification of it productive base. With the CDA's new prospective, it is projected that by pressing standing, wasting assets into active service, the CDA can become a more vibrant and pro-active facilitator, partner and landlord.
CHAGUARAMAS will become the Tourism, Entertainment and Recreational destination of the Region through Development of selected areas while maintaining a Pristine Environment.
CDA will become a world class, technology oriented, customer driven, high performance organization with emphasis on maintaining competitive, cutting edge operational capability and full self-sustainability.

The Authority's acting as landlord, is empowered to grant leases for lands and buildings located on the peninsula. Applications for leases are reviewed under the Tenancy Assessment System. This system derived from the CDA's Leasing Policy, ensures transparency and objectivity in assessing applications for leases. The system is based on six evaluation criteria, which, are biased against 'smokestack" industries and favours environmentally sensitive development of the tourism, knowledge based, and marine industry sectors.
The evaluation criteria for reviewing applications for leases are:
- The nature of the proposed business enterprise
- The professional and business profile of the prospective tenant
- The financial viability of the business enterprise
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Other Impact Assessments (employment & foreign exchange - generation)
- Regulatory Compliance (building codes & other statutory - - approvals)
