CHAGUARAMAS JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAMME
The Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) officially commenced Cycle 13 of the Chaguaramas Junior Golf Programme, continuing its commitment to youth development through sport and providing young people with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf at the Chaguaramas Golf Course.
The new cycle, which began in September 2026, builds on the programme’s expansion earlier this year. In April 2026, Senator the Honourable Saddam Hosein, Minister of Minister of Land and Legal Affairs and a Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Member of Parliament for Barataria/San Juan, officially opened the 2026 Junior Golf Programme at the Chaguaramas Golf Course..
The 2026 expansion broadened the programme’s reach to schools across East, Central and South Trinidad, allowing more students to experience a sport to which they may not otherwise have had access.
The Chaguaramas Junior Golf Programme provides free golf instruction to students between the ages of 7 and 16, with equipment provided for participants. Since its inception, the initiative has introduced hundreds of students from schools across Trinidad and Tobago to the sport.
More than simply teaching participants how to swing a golf club, the programme uses golf as a vehicle to encourage discipline, patience, concentration, confidence and good sportsmanship. Students receive practical instruction on the greens from experienced coaches while learning the rules, techniques and etiquette associated with the sport.
The programme is being conducted over an eight-week period from September to November 2026, with participating schools attending scheduled sessions at the Chaguaramas Golf Course. Students from primary and secondary schools are given the opportunity to develop their skills in a structured and supportive environment.
The programme forms part of the CDA’s wider efforts to maximise the recreational and sporting potential of the Chaguaramas Peninsula while creating meaningful opportunities for youth development.
Through initiatives such as the Junior Golf Programme, the CDA continues to demonstrate that the Chaguaramas Golf Course is not only a recreational facility but also a space for learning, inclusion and the development of the next generation of golfers.
As Cycle 13 gets underway, the CDA looks forward to welcoming another group of young participants to the greens and continuing to grow the programme across Trinidad and Tobago.
CDA Joins 2026 International Coastal Cleanup Efforts
The Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) joined organisations and volunteers across Trinidad and Tobago in supporting the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
A CDA team comprising Board members and employees participated in the cleanup exercise at Hart’s Cut, Chaguaramas, alongside the Honourable Clyde Elder, MP, Minister in the Ministry of Public Utilities, and other participating organisations and volunteers.
Throughout the morning, volunteers worked together to remove litter and marine debris from the coastline, contributing to the wider national effort to protect Trinidad and Tobago’s coastal and marine environment.
The International Coastal Cleanup is more than a collection exercise. Volunteers also help to identify, categorise and record the waste removed from coastlines, providing valuable information that can be used to better understand marine pollution and support future waste-management and environmental initiatives.
Cleanup activities were conducted at several locations throughout Chaguaramas, with teams participating at Hart’s Cut, Chagville, Williams Bay and offshore islands. Similar ICC activities were held across Trinidad and Tobago as part of the nationwide initiative.
The CDA’s participation reflects the Authority’s continued commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability and the protection of the Chaguaramas Peninsula’s natural resources.
The 2026 ICC formed part of a longstanding national effort coordinated by the Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development (CNIRD). In the previous year, more than 4,400 volunteers participated at 62 sites across Trinidad and Tobago, demonstrating the significant level of public and organisational support for cleaner coastlines.

CDA Hosts Third Town Hall and Celebrates Long-Serving Employees
The Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) hosted its third Town Hall on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Anchorage, bringing employees and leadership together for an afternoon of engagement, reflection and recognition.
A highlight of the event was the celebration of nine employees who have each achieved thirty years or more of dedicated service to the Authority. Their longstanding commitment, experience and contribution were recognised as an important part of CDA’s continued growth and development.
The Town Hall also provided an opportunity for staff and leadership to reconnect in a relaxed setting, strengthen relationships and reinforce the importance of teamwork across the organisation.
The CDA extends its sincere appreciation to the nine honourees for their years of dedicated service and thanks all employees who contributed to making the third Town Hall a meaningful occasion.
Their commitment represents an important part of the history, strength and legacy of the Chaguaramas Development Authority.
CDA Completes New Safety Railing at Macqueripe Beach Facility
The Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) has completed the installation of a new metal safety railing at the Macqueripe Beach Facility, forming part of ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure and enhance the safety and experience of visitors to the Chaguaramas Peninsula.
The facility was temporarily closed to the public on May 11 to facilitate the works, which included the removal of the deteriorated wooden railing and its replacement with a new metal structure. The temporary closure allowed the necessary works to be undertaken safely before the facility was reopened to beachgoers.
The upgraded railing provides a more secure barrier along the facility and represents an important improvement to one of Chaguaramas' most popular recreational areas. The works were undertaken with particular consideration for the site's coastal environment and the need for infrastructure that can better withstand continued exposure to marine conditions.
Macqueripe Bay remains one of the Peninsula's signature natural attractions. Sheltered by forested hills, the bay is popular for swimming, snorkelling and recreation and can also be accessed through the scenic Golf Course to Macqueripe trail.
The completion of the railing works also reflects the CDA's wider responsibility for the development and management of the north-western Peninsula and its continued focus on maintaining public spaces for recreation, relaxation and enjoyment.
Visitors returning to Macqueripe have welcomed the improvement, with members of the public noting the enhanced appearance and functionality of the new railing. The Authority recognises that continued maintenance and improvements are necessary across its recreational facilities and will continue to assess infrastructure needs throughout Chaguaramas.
The CDA encourages all visitors to help preserve Macqueripe Beach and other public recreational spaces by using the facilities responsibly, observing posted safety guidelines and helping to keep the surrounding environment clean.
Launch of the Port Health Centre in Chaguaramas 2026
April 29th, 2026 - Crews Inn, Chaguaramas - Chairman Mrs. Calise Narinesingh Martin and Deputy Chairman Ms. Kirby Joseph attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly established Port Health Office at Crews Inn, Chaguaramas on April 29, 2026.
The event marks a significant strategic milestone in the continued transformation of Trinidad and Tobago’s yachting and boating sector. The establishment of the Port Health Office underscores strengthened collaboration between the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTTI) and the Ministry of Health (MoH), both of which have played a pivotal role in advancing this initiative.
The facility represents more than a physical space for the issuance of health approvals to incoming visitors; it introduces a more efficient and streamlined process for the granting of pratique, enhancing the ease of entry for vessels and reinforcing Trinidad and Tobago’s position as a competitive maritime destination.
The CDA Board’s presence at the ceremony reflects the Authority’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that drive economic growth, improve sectoral efficiency, and elevate the Chaguaramas peninsula as a premier hub for marine and leisure activities.
